Soul Care

Soul Care

Is anyone else like me??? I play scenarios over and over in my head. The kind of thing where I second guess myself, or go over the “if I had done it this” or “that” way a thousand different times. I find lately that I am often playing over one area of my life that I wish I would have handled differently. It’s frustrating really. I’m exhausted. I lay my head on my pillow at night, and boom! the same thoughts are bouncing around (P.S. Yes, it happened tonight too, it is almost 2:00am as I type this!). I’ve thought of ways I could possibly address it, but then, if I know me, I will replay the way I address it when I am correcting it over and over again, and then the cycle continues. Am I crazy or what!?!?  Am I alone in this!?

Because I know this has to be an area that needs work, I find myself overthinking how do I work on this and then I get even more frustrated and tired. There is no worldly way that is going to give me the answer or final solution to this scenario. The only way for this to stop playing over in my head is for me to truly lean in and give it to God. For me, easier said than done. I am somewhat a control freak and think I need to fix it, well I hear in my head “how’s that working for you?”… IT’S NOT!

SOUL CARE is undoubtedly the best approach and where I need to focus in on. But to have soul care, I need to prioritize correctly so I don’t let other thoughts, or life in general, take over what and where my focus should be.

Words from Christine Caine:

Let the Holy Spirit fill you and give you rest

The Principle of Priority

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come (1 Timothy 4:8, NIV).

“Sometimes our souls can get exhausted, and when that happens, we have to be aware of it and take the time needed to refresh it.

Just like your physical body, your spirit needs care. So, take some time today to feed your soul with the Word of God, prayer, and worship. Prioritize it. You are meant to run your race well, and part of that means caring for yourself. Don’t just seek to manage your time; manage yourself and prioritize what matters most. There’s more God wants to do in your life!”

Focus on God should be my priority

I am (we are) meant to run the race well. To do that we have to have our thoughts, our soul, in the right place. We can’t be self-doubting or double-guessing things. We can find peace and be confident when we are consistently “in Christ”, in His word, leaning into Him, praying and worshiping Him.  When we do these things and prioritize soul care, the second guessing and “crazy” thoughts will become less and less of what fills our thoughts.  Then, we will find rest at all times and especially when we lay our head on our pillow.

Rest is necessary; but to rest we will need to prioritize our soul care so we can will find the rest.
