Reset…

WOAH! Where has time gone?  The last post on here is dated December of 2020!

Do you ever just find you get to a point and you turn around and look at where you were back then, and where you are today, and just find yourself asking “where did all the time go”?  That’s where I am at right now.  The days of my life are flying by and while I try to make the best of each day, I am writing this now thinking, “what did I accomplish since my last post?”.

It’s such a blur that I am not even sure I can put it into words!

I know without a doubt, that I am pausing right now and hitting reset in my life.  I need to slow down.  I’m laughing because as I am writing this, I am recalling a conversation I had on the phone with my daughter recently.  It was super windy and a storm was all around our home.  I was at home and my daughter was on her way home (we live in the same house) and I was on the phone with her.  I was concerned because she was driving and this was a BIG storm.  As I was describing the storm to her, I described the way the strong blowing winds were effecting the trees as something like “the trees are blowing frantically” and we both had a good laugh about my choice of words (she made it home safe).  This has me thinking, I can totally see that the “frantic” way the trees were blowing, is a lot like the way I operate my life.  Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of “down-time” or “relaxing time”, but when I’m being honest, I have this panic kind of thing going on inside me.  You know, the kind of things going on in my head (even if I don’t recognize it at the time), that are driving my actions to be FRANTIC! I can’t seem to let myself be enough, or do enough, or even let myself be okay with failing when I’ve tried enough!

So today, let’s all take the posture of “simply breathe” and hit reset.  Let’s not live life in a state of being frantic.  I am embracing and claiming the truth, I am enough because I have a savior, Jesus Christ, who is my enough.  I don’t have to be enough because HE is.  Take a deep breath with me and hit reset, give whatever is making you feel “frantic” (or whatever is troubling or concerning you) to Him.  He is the great “I Am” who will care for our every need and wrap us in his wings to shield us and support us.

I love to think about how God is there for me, with me in his arms.
I love the vision I have when I think about his wings covering me like in Psalm 91

PSALM 91

1-13 You who sit down in the High God’s presence,

    spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,

Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.

    I trust in you and I’m safe!”

That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,

    shields you from deadly hazards.

His huge outstretched arms protect you—

    under them you’re perfectly safe;

    his arms fend off all harm.

Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,

    not flying arrows in the day,

Not disease that prowls through the darkness,

    not disaster that erupts at high noon.

Even though others succumb all around,

    drop like flies right and left,

    no harm will even graze you.

You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,

    watch the wicked turn into corpses.

Yes, because God’s your refuge,

    the High God your very own home,

Evil can’t get close to you,

    harm can’t get through the door.

He ordered his angels

    to guard you wherever you go.

If you stumble, they’ll catch you;

    their job is to keep you from falling.

You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes,

    and kick young lions and serpents from the path.

14-16 “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God,

    “I’ll get you out of any trouble.

I’ll give you the best of care

    if you’ll only get to know and trust me.

Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times;

    I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party.

I’ll give you a long life,

    give you a long drink of salvation!”

 – Psalm 91 – The Message

I’m praying for me, for us… that we all will Simply Breathe and hit reset today.
Lord, help us to lean into your truth and never live in a state of being frantic.
We trust you and know that you are enough. ~ Amen.
