Hope Endures ~ by Sabrina
Easter represents such a special time of year. As spring kicks into full gear we watch the flowers grow and blossom, and enjoy the perfect temperatures and sunshine we missed during the cold winter months. The Easter holiday brings our families together, in a special time of reflection and celebration of our risen savior. A special Easter memory I hold dear is when, as a ‘big kid’, my uncle set up an Easter egg hunt that felt much more like the show “Survivor”- chicken coops, bug filled Palm trees and all!
Easter is a time where we can stop and remember what type of God we serve, a risen one. A God that gives us hope. Hope in salvation, hope in victory, hope in the future. We have hope because Jesus defeated the grave, he defeated death! Easter also reminds us of the cost of our salvation, the cross. What Jesus endured on that cross, beaten and hung by nails driven through his hands and feet, demonstrates his unconditional and overwhelming love for us. His love is so special, he died so we could live, his love does not know any boundaries, his love chases us down and pursues us even when we feel we are our furthest from God.
This Easter is looking a little different though. We won’t be gathering together or doing family Easter egg hunts, we aren’t going to be dressing up in our Easter outfits and heading to a special Sunday service. If we are fortunate enough to have a church who is doing a livestream service, we can tune in there and worship in our homes; and if we are quarantined with some of our families or friends then we can have special times of celebrating. This is a new season, in so many ways, Spring is here and is represented by the chirping birds and blooming flowers, but we are also in a new season never experienced before full of uncertainty.
Let me remind you and encourage you in the hope that we have, the hope that Jesus defeated death, so even now we should not doubt he will work this out for our good too.
John 16:33 (NKJV) “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
